The company was established in 1952 on April 26 as a documentary and chronicle film studio. Since 1957 it has been reorganized into an artistic and documentary film studio, receiving the name of “Moldova Film”. Then in 1991, it was reorganized into the “Moldova Film” State Concern, then in 1994 into the Moldova Film State Film Studio. And from 1999 until now, following the reorganization of the State Film Studio, the Joint Stock Company “Moldova Film” was formed.

Film “Lăutarii” won second prize at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, as well as a special jury award. And the “Silver Nymph” of the Naples International Film Festival
Film „Ultima lună de toamnă”
The film “Ultima lună de toamnă” won the Grand Prize at the Cannes International Film Festival. The second most important award of the Cannes Film Festival, given to the film in the main competition.
Animated film „Haiduc”
